Resumen

In this paper, we propose a complete approach to improve the web accessibility in Ecuador through the adoption of web accessibility policies and the creation of a web accessibility observatory. In the first stage, we made a preliminary study with disabled people to determine their main needs and goals. In the second stage, we have created a corpus of web pages and have proposed a new metric to classify web pages according to their accessibility level. In the final stage, we have implemented the main modules of the web accessibility observatory and have performed an automatic process of validation of the created corpus, using K-means algorithm. The results are promising and provide important ideas for future work. © 2014 WIT Press.
