Abstract

The inclusive information and communication technology (ICT) tools to support the teaching-learning process of students with disabilities are of paramount importance in times in which we are living through the COVID pandemic. This article presents the results of the implementation of inclusive ICT in a specialized Educational Unit for people with visual disabilities in the city of Guayaquil. In the investigative process, instruments such as the interview addressed to the director and an online questionnaire applied to teachers of the institution were used; Under a descriptive, transversal approach, the entire process that was carried out for the identification, selection, delivery, and installation of inclusive software products is detailed, aimed at promoting the inclusive education of students with disabilities in the situation of confinement. The results of the implementation were satisfactory, obtaining 98% of the use of ICT tools in the activities developed within the teaching-learning process during this pandemic, thereby guaranteeing the continuity of the educational process mediated by the use of ICT in the online modality, which also allowed students to facilitate autonomous learning at home.
