The essay presents an analysis of the fundamentals of education in the history of humanity, briefly establishes the general characteristics of education over time, determines the model (educational ideal, role of the teacher, role of the student) prevailing at each stage to understand the dynamism of the educational ideal and the characteristic traits that make up Ecuadorian education today. Likewise, it reflects on the main transformations, limitations or critical nodes and challenges of Ecuadorian education in recent times. The essay argues the importance of understanding that to speak of education is to turn one's gaze to the person as the main reference point for intellection in order to understand the various socio-cultural manifestations. He explains that all educational orientation is based on philosophical doctrines, which is why he proposes to rethink the behavior of education in the light of the laws of philosophy and the cultural development of society. As for methodology, it is a qualitative study, philosophically based on the phenomenological-hermeneutic method. This essay opens the way for further research and for the generation of new educational proposals in context.
