Abstract

In the Strenna 2012, the Rector Major, Fr. Pascual Chavez, commented that the image of Don Bosco and his work must be seriously reconstructed from our cultural perspective, from the complexity of today's life, from globalization and postmodern culture, from the difficulties of pastoral ministry, from the decline of vocations and from the questioned consecrated life. Within this framework, it was decided to organize the I Salesian Education Congress: the Salesian Pedagogical Model, an event that raised the academic discussion on the various experiences and practices that arise in the spaces of Salesian education, and that allowed to identify and discuss the fields, approaches and perspectives of the challenges of Salesian education in the XXI century. To approach the discussion, the Congress was divided into four tables or thematic axes: "Inclusion initiatives for subaltern population sectors", "Methodological, didactic and communicational innovations", "Human formation and pastoral accompaniment" and "Citizenship and education". This academic report publishes 31 papers of the 60 that were read throughout the Congress, from November 13 to 15, 2018 at the UPS Quito headquarters. This was also evidenced by the emergence of the first Shuar leaders and their leadership capacity, who imitating the innate capacity that the missionaries had to articulate broad social and economic sectors in pursuit of their objectives, they also learned to move in different scenarios to seek benefits for their people and their organization.
