Abstract
The paper makes a conceptual approach to philosophy of education, examines some philosophical approaches and the main contributions of philosophy that have served as a foundation for the constitution of philosophy of education; finally, it raises perspectives and challenges that allow understanding the meaning of philosophy of education in the current context. It is defended the idea that philosophy of education cannot exist without the presence of its two basic conditions: philosophy and education. It is a bibliographical research; it uses the logical-scientific methods (deductive-inductive) and the philosophical methods (phenomenological-hermeneutic).
