Abstract
The present work evaluates the rheological behavior of a new bio-based composite material:thermoplastic matrix reinforced with natural fibers. Experimental runs were carried out byrheological analysis to evaluate the melt flow index, the shear viscosity and the rheological constants applying the Power law model and Cross WLF model. The results showed good agreement between rheological behavior of the composites and proposed models. The fiber content showed a thickening effect on the fluidity of the composites while the coupling agent improved their flow conditions. The study also includes the obtaining of the rheological constants of the materials studied that are required to computer models in order to optimize the injection cycles for the manufactureof environment friendly components.
