Abstract

The use of 3D teaching resources developed with additive manufacturing technology in inclusive education has been considered a fundamental strategy in the learning of children with visual disabilities in recent years. In Ecuador there are 1140 children who have this disability, between 0 months and 12 years of age, and their interaction with this type of resources is scarce. This article describes the process developed in the co-creation of 3D resources between two educational institutions that used the braille system and 3D design and printing software to improve the teaching-learning process of visually impaired students and evaluate its impact. The approach is focused on the co-creation of 3D resources, as an essential factor to expedite the generation of quality teaching resources, implementing a methodology for this purpose. The 3D resources developed as a product of co-creation using additive manufacturing technology were widely accepted by teachers and captured the interest of students in the classroom, favoring reading and writing in the braille system and haptic perception with highly satisfactory results in the teaching-learning process.
