Resumen

This article presents the aerodynamic study of a passenger car, taking as a sample the Chevrolet Forsa 1.3, in which road tests are performed to obtain values of the aerodynamic coefficients (Cx) and friction (Fr) in different positions of opening the windows and various vehicle speeds. In order to corroborate the information obtained in the tests on which the Cx calculation is based, a modeling of the vehicle to be used in SolidWorks® is made, with the intention of performing a simulation that allows obtaining the Cx values when the windows are in different positions and at a specific speed. In addition, an experimental design is carried out in Minitab®, which allows to know the incidence that certain variable has on the Cx and Fr. The results obtained show that the Cx value increases as the vehicle windows are opened when traveling at speeds higher than 90 km/h, which means greater resistance to the advance and therefore an increase in fuel consumption and pollutant emissions.
