Resumen
This paper delves into the identification of influential news accounts in Cuenca, Ecuador, using Twitter (referred to as “X”). In the context of the Web 2.0 era, social media platforms have become pivotal for the dissemination of information and public discourse. With its burgeoning presence, the assessment of news account authority becomes pivotal. The methodology leverages the API of “X” for data extraction, with a specific focus on public safety in Cuenca. Metrics such as the volume of posts, retweets, and “likes” are harnessed for the quantification of influence. The study discerns key accounts based on their engagement, prominently featuring “El Mercurio” and “ACueNoticias.” An interactive panel is presented, enabling real-time analysis of news accounts. This fosters informed decision-making, augments community relations, and bolsters security within Cuenca by highlighting reputable sources and salient security concerns. The emphasis is placed on the significance of credible sources and community involvement in the evaluation of influence in the domain of security.
