Resumen
Several studies indicate that the hospitalization process generates stress in patients and in the case of children this can result in a devastating experience. To date, various strategies have been developed, ranging from games to the use of robots and music to try to reduce anxiety in children who will be hospitalized. The National Institute of Statistics of Spain indicates that the average stay in hospitals for children from 1 to 4 years old and children from 5 to 14 years old is 3.85 and 4.08 days, respectively. For this reason, this article presents the first stage of development of an animatronic dog-shaped robot. This device has the objective to support stress management for children who attend both medical visits and hospitalization. In the first stage of validation, we worked with 3 expert psychologists and carried out an analysis process with the Bland-Altman method, as well as a structural analysis (static and dynamic) based on finite elements.
