Abstract
Nowadays almost all countries have its own advanced network, but few organizations use their capabilities. So, cooperation interconnecting some advanced networks even to the regional level helps to share and contribute to projects in a collaborative way. This is the case of many countries in the Pacific, integrating their education and research networks. The backbone of Pacific Wave has evolved from 1 to 100 Gbps links, involving backbone and high-performance infrastructure. Nowadays this network interconnects 29 countries through 45 backbone routers for developing several collaboration projects. In this work, to study the pacific wave advanced network, the GNS3 emulator was used to make an approach for connectivity and management using IPv6 protocols, such as OSPFv3, BGPv4 and SNMPv3. The capabilities and limitations of the emulator and Pacific Wave are shown as results, mainly when emulating different file transfers which are of the interest of ISP companies.
