Abstract

In response to the need to supply food to a constantly growing population, the Green Revolution and the capitalist system implement production practices that seek to maximize yields, causing pollution of nature and distributing unhealthy foods due to the excessive use of pesticides. Sectors of civil society and the state incorporate practices that lead to sustainable agriculture for the production of healthy foods. Thus, the research analyzed the investment of multilateral and cooperation organizations as catalysts to enhance and strengthen the production and commercialization of healthy foods, maintaining local identities and demonstrating the contribution to the SDGs and IRA principles. The study was conducted in the territory of the Kayambi people in northern Ecuador. Using participant observation and focus groups, data were obtained from the network of local NGOs and the system for capturing resources from international cooperation for financing agricultural production. With 120 women who produce agroecologically and/or from the Andean chakra, organizational capacity and production technologies were determined. It was found that the Casa Campesina Cayambe Foundation manages economic resources from Europe, capturing $750,000 in the last 10 years, investing in 240 producers organized into 15 groups, in the form of credit and donation, strengthening organizational capacity, sustainable production technologies, and associativity for local and zonal commercialization. Additionally, it was evidenced that there is local cooperation involving local governments and higher education institutions, where the creation of the cantonal council of agroecological producers is encouraged as a coordination instance between producers and public and private institutions. It is concluded that investment fosters organization and implementation of technologies under a dialogue of knowledge, allowing for the production of healthy foods for self-consumption and commercialization, diversifying family economies.
