Abstract

The research analyzes Esports, video game sports competitions, from the communicational field, the communication processes, the national perspective of the media and the marketing provided to them, in order to identify the level of innovation regarding this activity in the country. The need for a quantitative-qualitative study justifies the use of a triangulation by data collection tools, involving the review of written material covering a dimension from Latin America to the national level, interviews with communicators who have had contact with the Esports media and surveys to the public, The result is that Esports have gained notoriety since the massive dissemination of related content on social networks, supported by factors that determined a boom, such as the emergence of streaming platforms in addition to the change of social paradigm which was presented as video games that were considered as only entertainment tools and a means of economic growth not beyond the aspects of development at the enterprise level. This ideological change, strengthens the growth of digital environments that in turn attract content for the media, which must remain in a constant learning to provide informational content briefly and accurately on par with social networking platforms.
