Abstract

This book gathers the results of a research program on the following dimensions of the Salesian presence in the country: community development, social inclusion, childhood and adolescence; Salesian education, with emphasis on technical education; shaping of identities and interculturality. This research was carried out by a team from the Salesian Polytechnic University in agreement with the Salesian Society in Ecuador. It involved professionals who contributed their own visions from different social sciences (history, sociology and anthropology) and education. Therefore, it is an interdisciplinary work that seeks to deepen the dialogue between the Salesian spiritual-pedagogical heritage, science and the expectations of the peoples and cultures of today at a time of growing complexity of Ecuadorian society subject to radical transformations fraught with challenges for the Salesian community and the Church itself.
