The Research Group on Missions and Indigenous Peoples (GIMPI) is dedicated to critically analyzing the relationships between indigenous peoples and the churches that have transformed their territories into mission spaces. Its mission focuses on making visible the civilizational characteristics of indigenous peoples as alternatives to the spirituality and relationship with nature imposed by the Eurocentric civilizational project. GIMPI is presented as an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary reference that integrates various areas of knowledge, such as history, sociology, communication, anthropology and theology, promoting dialogue and shared reflection between indigenous and religious organizations. The group's activities are organized around the recovery of missionary documentary sources and the investigation of their civilizational and pedagogical impacts on mission towns.
