Abstract
Chapter IV, Innovation and its challenges for higher education, prepared by Jessica Lourdes Villamar Muñoz, examines some definitions of the term innovation, identifies its typology, seeks to answer questions such as the following: What is innovation, how, where, when, with what, why and for what purpose is innovation? How, where, when, with what, with what, why and for what is innovation? What or who is affected by innovation? She presents the results obtained from the application of a set of surveys directed to university professors and students about educational innovation and explains how it is understood in the Ecuadorian context.
