Abstract

This research work analyzes the family origin and professional interests of third year students of the Unified General High School of a private educational institution in the south of Quito. From thisresearch, it was possible to know and understand about family origin, personal and professional interests and their relationship with the professions or tradesthat their parents exercise. The realization of this work arose from the observation of students of the third year of the Unified General Baccalaureate in preprofessional practices. It is important to mention that these adolescents have to make a professional choice at the end of the educational stage; This choice is based on an interest that in many cases depends on the family origin and its context. Descriptive research proposes a diagnosis and interrelation of the subjects parents, students and the object of actions. The contributions of the quantitative and qualitative paradigms were used, and the use of techniques such as the mapping of actors and the interview, with their respective instruments: a virtual survey in Google Forms and a question guide respectively for the collection of information. The results present the description of the socio-family contexts, the range of personal and professional interests of the students and the relationship or not in a possible future professional choice of the student.
