Abstract
This article presents the results of the research conducted on the experience of the production of intercultural programs and contents carried out in a community media managed by the Communication Department of the Salesian Polytechnic University in Ecuador, such as Radio Mensaje, located in the Cayambe canton, province of Pichincha, as a laboratory of pre-professional practices, which constitutes a space of mediation for the exercise of citizenship. It analyzes the changes that, from a process of educational innovation, have influenced the training of social communicators and their link with society, specifying not only the use of information and communication technologies as tools for the production and dissemination of content, but also the importance of understanding intercultural communication as mediation for intercultural dialogue and the exercise of citizenship. It is a qualitative research (Parra, 2009), which links programming with audiences to influence precisely in the construction of citizenship through its programming and radio production with an intercultural approach in the process of which a pedagogical and social mediation is carried out, which seeks in students an understanding of the intercultural and in the audience a sociocultural construct for the exercise of their citizenship. We reflect on the intercultural radio production included in the programming carried out by teachers and students of the Communication career as is the case of the inclusive intercultural informative capsules with which we comply with what is established in the Regulation for the Application of Art. 36 of the Organic Law of Communication in Ecuador, on the dissemination of intercultural contents.
