Abstract
Ecuador has commercial Internet since 1991, but its advanced network began operations since 2002. CEDIA is the advanced network for Ecuador, which interconnects 15 provinces providing them high technology infrastructure which lets the development of projects and enhance cooperation. In this work, the connectivity among backbone routers and management from the NMS was studied using GNS3 for CEDIA. Due to nowadays all backbone ISP updated from IPv4 to use IPv6 protocol, OSPFv3 and SNMPv3 were used as routing and management protocols. This way it was shown how CEDIA works and it can let enough data for the future grow of this Equatorian advanced network which can push forward research in the country. It was confirmed that IPv6 shows less latency than IPv4, but also some differences among emulation vs the function developed by Internet Service Provider companies are discussed such as bandwidth of interfaces and latency.
