Abstract

The learning process with which a human being begins his life, he does so through the exploration of his surrounding world and appropriates it with his senses; This becomes pleasant because the means used is play in accordance with age. Sigmund Freud (1908) was one of the first to mention the importance of play and that children express the diversity of emotions through play. Another contribution is made by Donald Winnicott (1993), who makes the connection between play and health, which contributes to social relationships, communication and communicative play, both for the infant and for others. Due to the varied richness obtained from the game, the various educational modalities consider it as a necessary tool for the teaching and learning process, even more so when it refers to initial education. This is reaffirmed by the contributions of Bornstein (2006), Whitebread, (2010, 2011) and Whitebread et al. (2007), who provide evidence that play develops metacognition, language and self-regulation, which allows predicting future academic achievements and contribution to the child's social and emotional development.
