Abstract
In a globalized world where information flows, the media play an essential role in shaping opinions and attitudes. In El discurso de odio en los medios de Ecuador: percepciones y soluciones, students of the sixth cycle of Communication at the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana, Cuenca, address a topic of great relevance in our society today. Using their academic background as an enriching base, these young researchers explore the phenomenon of hate speech in the Ecuadorian media. Through case studies and rigorous critical analysis, they examine how certain media expressions can perpetuate harmful stereotypes, promote division, and undermine the pillars of a diverse and pluralistic society. This book not only sheds light on the challenges facing our society with respect to hate speech, but also highlights the importance of responsible and ethical communication through proposals to mitigate misogyny, homophobia, racism, xenophobia and disablism in the media in the Ecuadorian context.
