Abstract

Taking into account the importance of drinking water quality for human consumption, the authors of this work have compiled this compilation based on selected bibliography, as well as on experiences in the field of teaching and community outreach at the Salesian Polytechnic University. Five topics are addressed in this publication: Water in nature, Aquatic chemistry, Drinking water treatment plant, Water epidemiology and prevention of water-borne diseases, and The importance of agriculture in the use of water resources. In addition, a detailed description of the design methodology of the treatment units of a drinking water treatment plant considering its usefulness in university teaching.
