Abstract
This work evaluates the modes of action that integrate the online and offline dimensions of political participation. It is proposed that offline political participation is composed of two general sub-dimensions: conventional participation and political protest. For its part, online participation operates through a low-cost modality (soft) and a high-cost modality (hard). The analyzes in this article included a sample of 1,136 people from the Metropolitan District of Quito, Ecuador. The strategy to verify the proposed hypotheses was based on the comparison of different factor models through confirmatory factor analysis. The multidimensional nature of political participation and its implications in the current context of Latin America are also discussed.
