Abstract

The present research entitled Desesperanza en adolescentes, una mirada desde la psicología clínica aims to determine the levels of hopelessness in students attending an educational institution in the city of Quito -Ecuador. Whose pillars are based on the Constructivist paradigm, Piaget and Vygotsky's theory on adolescence and Cognitive School, Aaron Beck's theory on hopelessness. It was based on a descriptive methodology with non-experimental design, quantitative approach; through data collection using a sociodemographic record and Aaron Beck's Despair Test. It was evident that of the total population investigated, 60% presented normality in terms of the presence of hopelessness; 33% were in a mild range; 6% moderate and 1% severe.
