Abstract

As in other countries, in Ecuador anthropology is not just one discipline, there are several genealogies that obey diverse themes with interdisciplinary approaches and that change according to the social, economic, and political context; but unlike the region, it registers few anthropology schools and professional training centers in the area. This collection of texts shows the diversity and multiple facets of Ecuadorian anthropologies. Ecuadorian anthropology is not limited to these historiographies and highlights those genealogies of Ecuadorian thought, nourished by reflections from the classical schools of anthropology, which dialogue strongly with the national context and which, particularly, have the ability to recreate themselves in light of the real needs of the people with whom knowledge is co-constructed.
