Abstract

University sexual harassment was silenced in the Ecuadorian context until 2015 when student and feminist movements made it visible. Since then, the media, university libraries, auditoriums, and other spaces have been impregnated with concepts, data, complaints, testimonies, and reflections on this issue. As a result, this book compiles some key debates with the intention of promoting views that go beyond reductionist, victimizing, and punitive readings. Sexual harassment is positioned as a problem that affects the university community, particularly women, feminized bodies, and those who, from the hegemonic gender mandates, are seen as sexual objects. Written in different registers and tones, the sections diffract and understand the phenomenon from its multiplicity, without univocal intentions. The specificities of university sexual harassment are recognized based on figures, the mechanisms of domination and its subjective imprints. The experiences associated with the protocols and their limitations in application are narrated, suggesting that guaranteeing regulations is fundamental, but that they must bet on changes in patriarchal dynamics. It is firmly pointed out that the horizon of transformation lies in the processes of feminist and psychosocial accompaniment and collective political actions.
