Abstract
The disciplinary boundaries within design are one of the still unknowns, to be resolved for epistemology. To understand the relationship between the disciplinary boundaries of digital design and multimedia design, this research proposes the analysis of the theoretical discourses of two design references such as Ian Spalter and Luke Woods, based on the lessons learned during their experiences working in one of the most relevant and used social networks in the United States, Instagram. Emerging technologies and culture expand the possibilities of interface design and in turn cause sudden changes in the usability of social networks. This study is based on the recent research work of Toa Tripaldi who in his methodological framework included great discourse analysis theorists such as Morin, Deleuze, Guattari and Rorty. The qualitative methodological approach will serve as a basis for understanding how the discipline has been shaped and adapted to contemporary changes in design.
