Resumen

This chapter is oriented to finding the results from the implementation of an hourly tariff in the electricity subsector of Honduras, with the purpose of being a parameter that benefits from a reduction in peak consumption and demand curves, respectively. The methodology implemented in this study encompasses a correlation between the electricity costs in terms of energy (kWh), power (kW), and the consumer load profile in various subsectors (residential, commercial, and industrial subsectors), plus their consumption behavior and demands with the hourly rate charge. The outcome of this study should help decision makers and electricity utility operators to recognize the benefits and possible challenges, and to set strategies for the planning and management of the electricity sector.
