Abstract
The objective of this article is to review the rights of nature in light of the development and commercial release of genetically modified organisms, especially transgenic crops, starting from the interpretative scientific system that inspired their development: Darwin's theories on the origin of species by natural selection. Although the idea of transforming nature has been a concern that has accompanied mankind since its dawn, it was Charles Darwin's theories that were the first to be widely accepted by official scientific society, and which was capable of transforming the course of the life sciences throughout the 20th century.
