Abstract

The medical equipment maintenance and its management in health centers is essential to maintain an optimal level of efficiency and reliability of the technology, essential field present for the diagnosis and treatment of different pathologies. The lack of computational tools for this management causes a decline in technological utilization; contribute to the incorrect diagnosis of pathologies, early obsolescence of the equipment, and direct damage to patients who need to use this limited asset. The objective of this work was to develop a methodology to design a maintenance management system adapted to the characteristics of the Ecuadorian health system, based on international standards. The use of the system in the development of a pilot test has facilitated registering data from around 200 devices from the rehabilitation area of the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital in Cuenca - Ecuador. The preliminary results of the use of the system show that its application could be a useful tool for maintenance management in medical centers in the region.
