Abstract

Professional competence stems from the intellectual skills the professional has acquired at the university of origin to generate added value in performing their duties. As a result, the graduate will receive economic, labor, and intellectual benefits. Taking that into account, in this article, we identify the perception of employers regarding the competencies of the graduates of the Accounting and Auditing career of the Universidad Politécnica Salesiana in Cuenca between the years 2016 - 2021 to find possible deficiencies in the training of students. In the analysis, we use the database of graduates, with a total of 105 companies. For collecting the information, an analytical survey is applied to each employer, consisting of 14 questions, using a Likert scale of 5 levels. Furthermore, the Pearson coefficient was applied to see the ratio of employers' perceived aptitude to the gender of graduates. The findings provide a glimpse of strengths and weaknesses that should be carefullystudied.
