Abstract

Shear Link Bozzo (SLB) dissipators act in the nonlinear range in order to generate a deformation in the device, preventing structural damage in buildings, for this reason, it is important to perform a nonlinear time-history analysis with at least three events seismic representative of Ecuador, and thus obtain the fundamental characteristics of each structure, knowing the seismic behavior of the devices in the country. That is why, in the present study, a non-linear time-history comparative analysis was carried out using SLB energy dissipators com-pared to traditional construction methods, both in reinforced concrete and in metallic structures, in order to determine which system presents a better behavior. with these devices. In this way, two buildings with different architectural characteris-tics were modeled, which generated a total of eight structures; four of them in reinforced concrete and four in metallic structure, of which two corresponded to structure with tradi-tional method and two with the implementation of SLB dissi-pators. The results that were generated in both construction systems show that SLB energy dissipators reduce these fundamental characteristics, mainly the maximum floor shear, where the reduction was greater than 75% in both cases.
