Abstract
During the consumption of hot water in the residential sector there is a waste of water in relation to the method used to obtain it, for the use of gas heaters, it takes a certain amount of time for the water to heat up and be used; electric water heaters generate hot water quickly, but at the same time the energy consumption that it represents must be considered; An alternative to solve the problems of water waste and energy consumption, is to conduct research on the use of solar assisted heat pumps (SAHP), which is done with members of both the Salesian Polytechnic University of Quito-Ecuador, and the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana de Medellin-Colombia, the different components of the SAHP are analyzed; evaporator, compressor, expansion valve, condenser, the use of environmentally friendly refrigerants, in order to generate hot water and that this is available every day of the year, without generating water waste and also to help reduce pollution of the planet, reducing the amount of emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere. The results obtained show a surface temperature in the collector / evaporator that reaches 354 K in different parts of the collector, with an average speed of 2.81 m / s, refrigerants R134a and R600a are used as working fluid.
