Abstract
The objective of the research was to examine the possible association of a group of socio-economic variables with mortality caused by covid 19 in the Americas. The theoretical method applied was the hypothetical deductive one, with the procedures of analysis and synthesis. The main empirical method was documentary review and analysis. Statistical procedures were also applied. It was found that the variables population aging (r=0.357), public health coverage (r= 0.483) and income level (r = 0.409) had a moderate positive correlation with the dependent variable; human development showed a strong positive correlation (r=0.535); population density a moderate negative correlation (r=- 0.362); while the variables health infrastructure, economic inequality and employment did not have a statistically significant correlation with the dependent variable. In general, the coefficient of determination (R^2) showed very small values for all the types of linear and non-linear functions tested, so the predictive capacity of the different models is very restricted.
