Abstract

In Cuenca, Ecuador, drinking water coverage reaches more than 90 % of the population, but there is no control over consumption, which is why rainwater harvesting could be an alternative. This investigation evaluated the amount of rainwater required to optimize consumption in the Cuenca´s industry. Rainfall and water consumption data from three enterprises over the years 2014-2022 were considered. The results show that the savings of drinking water does not cover the investment required to implement such optimization.
