Abstract
Progressivisms were born in the midst of, or as a result of, the devastation caused by neoliberalism and walked on the rubble of the traditional parties. In Ecuador, the government of the so-called "Revoluvión Ciudadana" was an intense political phenomenon of more than a decade that cultivated several electoral and social successes. Its promise emerged in the midst of a profound crisis that had broken the political hegemony of the elites and worn out the gears of the representative political system. The pages of this book, the result of an extraordinary collective effort, offer an explanation of the meanings and legacies of progressive governments with a special emphasis on the Ecuadorian experience, taking into account the profound effects they had on society, the economy and the States of the countries involved. At the same time, this book addresses the first signs of the post-progressive cycle in which neo-Governmentalism, the State of Exception, anti-politics and the emergence of alternative forces emerge. Ecuador. Balances, debates and post-progressive challenges proposes a plural and critical approach to the historical present of Ecuador through readings that combine local, national and regional perspectives.
