Progressivisms were born in the midst of, or as a result of, the devastation caused by neoliberalism and walked on the rubble of the traditional parties. In Ecuador, the government of the so-called "Revoluvión Ciudadana" was an intense political phenomenon of more than a decade that cultivated several electoral and social successes. Its promise emerged in the midst of a profound crisis that had broken the political hegemony of the elites and worn out the gears of the representative political system.
