Abstract

This document discusses the implementation of microgrids in different locations in Ecuador as a response to the increase of users and consequent increase of power, therefore, it is currently necessary to use renewable energies. In the first stage, the energy consumption profile with residential, commercial or industrial loads was characterized, in addition to the construction of the power profile by means of the survey of loads and statistical criteria of use and coincidence. In the second stage, the natural resources, wind speed and solar radiation available in two study areas were analyzed through the specialized software Homer Pro with latitude and longitude coordinates, consequently, the feasibility of renewable electric generation elements was analyzed and the use was defined. In addition, the use of several renewable generation plants was proposed in order to complement the microgrid in aspects of inertia and stability. With the energy demand and generation resources proposed, architectural alternatives of a potential microgrid were designed for the two selected locations, simulations were carried out for interconnected cases with specific values to an environment and an economic analysis of the implementation, obtaining the feasibility of the microgrid. Finally, the results and conclusions obtained indicate the operation of each of the plants, when they work randomly, based on the fact that the use of natural resources such as sun and wind are unlimited resources, but they are not present at all times of the day, causing the search for different ways to produce electricity.
