Abstract

This article presents a tutorial on how to use the ION 7400 module to teach students about power quality. The guide begins with an introduction to the module and the basics of electrical energy measurement. It then describes the module, including its standards and how it communicates with other energy management devices and systems. Advanced topics are also covered, such as voltage levels, rapid voltage disturbances (flicker), total harmonic distortion (THD), and voltage unbalance, which are addressed in Resolution No. ARCERNNR-017/2020 and Resolution No. ARCERNNR-002/20. The tutorial is designed to ensure that students understand how ION 7400 modules work in real-world applications and prepare them to apply their knowledge in future energy management applications. Additionally, it aims to raise awareness about issues that may indicate that the energy service is not continuous, acceptable, or reliable.
