Abstract

The objective of the article was to determine the contribution of savings and credit cooperatives to financial inclusion in the rural sectors of Guayaquil. As methods, the hypothetical - deductive was applied, as well as the documentary review and analysis, the survey and the interview. The study was carried out in the rural parishes of Posorja, Puná, Tenguel and Morro in Guayaquil, Ecuador; where a total of 27,017 people over the age of 18 reside. It was obtained that savings and credit cooperatives have a greater relevance in places where rurality and poverty is greater and that rural people maintain a regular perception of the development of formal financial entities since they are distrustful and dissatisfied with the operating mode of these establishments.
