Abstract
In Ecuador, there is a growing increase in the older adult population who have been exposed to contextual changes in recent times that may affect their quality of life. The objective of this research was to assess the quality of life in non-institutionalized older adults who attend the CAAM (Elderly Care Center) of the IESS (Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security) in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. The methodological process was quantitative and descriptive in scope. The participants were 101 older adults between 61 and 89 years of age. A sociodemographic form and the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire were used to assess the overall quality of life and its different domains. The results showed that the participants have a tendency towards a moderately high quality of life, with the environmental domain being the best rated. It is concluded that older adults perceive their quality of life in a positive way and have a better satisfaction with their environment.
