Abstract

This paper shows the optimal bias voltage configuration in an optical access network considering the transmission of a Universal Filtered Multicarrier (UFMC) signal over a Radio over Fiber (RoF) system in 5G. Intensity Modulation-Direct Detection (IM-DD) is employed in the design of the link; the importance of choosing the optimum point of the bias voltage is to warranty the correct transmission of a radio frequency signal in a Passive Optical Network (PON) with splitting loss. Specifically, the optical link acts as a fronthaul of the Next Generation Radio Access Network (NG-RAN).
