Abstract
This paper presents the methodology to implement a fuzzy logic based fuel pressure controller and the comparison of its performance with a classical PID controller. The fuzzy controller design procedure such as variable declaration, fuzzification, inference mechanism, knowledge base and system de-fuzzification are discussed in this paper. The performance parameters of the proposed controllers are measured by their time characteristics. The second-order approximation of the dynamics of the Renault Samsung SM7 engine was obtained by identification tests on the physical system. Details of the analysis of the data obtained during simulation and implementation will be discussed using computational tools such as MATLAB and Simulink, where the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed controllers are shown.
