Abstract

We implemented a DPSK-PON transmission system and analyzed its performance with a non-coherent receiver. Results are obtained by simulations in Optsim and also experimentally with off-line post processing. Data at 10Gb/s are transmitted over 20km of G.652D single mode fiber and sent to a non-coherent receiver consisting of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer and two balanced photodiodes. Results show a sensitivity of -9.5 dBm for the DPSK-PON system which is 2dB better than OOK (On/Off Keying) for a BER of 1e-3 when 300000 bits are transmitted.
