Resumen

In order to seek better academic practices and improve the quality of university education in Ecuador, the Faculty of Accounting and Auditing and the Faculty of Systems, Electronics and Industrial Engineering of the Technical University of Ambato, Tungurahua—Ecuador, are integrating a research project for the use of Web 4.0 tools in academic work to promote collaborative learning among students taking as an experimental case the subject of Object Oriented Programming, taught in the Software Career of the Faculty of Systems, Electronics and Industrial Engineering. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the use and application of Web 4.0 tools in the collaborative learning process in the academic years 2020 and 2021. Our research is descriptive in nature and is methodologically framed in a mixed and cross-sectional approach. The sample consists of 1 career coordinator, 4 teachers and 147 Object Oriented Programming students in the mentioned years. The main findings show the first steps to integrate Web 4.0 tools in the collaborative learning process in university education in Ecuador. However, as an important aspect to be highlighted, we found the lack of support to improve the technological infrastructure; in addition to training on the use and application of Web 4.0 tools in order to seek innovation with them.
