Simulation Through Specialized Software of Fluid Transport via Capillarity in Straight Channels Manufactured with Additive Technology from 100 to 1000 µm

Producción científica: Capítulo del libro/informe/acta de congresoContribución de conferenciarevisión exhaustiva

Resumen

Throughout this investigation, the behavior of a fluid within straight resin channels of different dimensions was simulated using specialized software. The passive transport fluid was selected in these simulations, considering the phenomenon of capillarity to propel fluids. Therefore, it was proposed to simulate a fluid passing through several microchannels with different dimensions and roughness printed with stereolithographic technology (SLA). These simulations helped to validate experimental velocity curves performed at the laboratory to be able to apply them in the use of medical microdevices, such as rapid tests that will serve to reduce times in routine analyzes and without the need to use complex and high-cost devices. The purpose of simulations is to understand how this material having different wall roughness (straight channels) and different dimensions affects the behavior of the fluid, paying special attention to the velocity property. It is expected that the results obtained will be applicable to several areas of industrial interest as well as social interest. It may focus on biomedicine, being more specific in rapid tests for example Covid-19, pregnancy tests, measurement of glucose, lactose and others. Considering that by developing miniaturized devices, these can execute routine analyzes in a short time, with low volumes of sample fluid and serial production that would reduce costs.
