Proposal for Multisensory Recreational Rooms Based on Embedded Systems and Centralized Communication

Producción científica: Capítulo del libro/informe/acta de congresoContribución de conferenciarevisión exhaustiva

Resumen

Multisensory rooms have evolved since their creation in the 1970s to become highly technological environments with therapeutic, educational and recreational applications. This study analyzes the historical evolution, integrated technologies and impacts on the sensory stimulation of different users, with a special focus on children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The design of an innovative multisensory room, developed with interactive modules that allow advanced customization of the sensory experience, is presented. The room includes a central control node, an interactive button panel, a mincemeat tube and a sensory vumeter, optimizing visual, auditory and tactile stimulation. Unlike previous implementations, this proposal incorporates real-time feedback and a system of dynamic adaptation to the user’s needs, promoting a more effective approach to the cognitive and social development of children with ASD.
