Resumen
The need for proper utilization of renewable energy sources has increased, placing emphasis on resources like solar and wind, which are non-dispatchable, very crucial. In this work the primary focus is to improve the system performance by identifying the appropriate location and size of the DGs. The Voltage Stability Index (VSI) is used as a marker to identify the buses that require support. Multiple penetration levels were tested to find the appropriate size of the DG to balance the power loss in the distribution system. To overcome the intermittency of the renewable sources, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are implemented as dispatchable units that can supply power during low generation from renewable sources. The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used to characterize their charging and discharging processes. This ensures the overall system losses stay low while enhancing the voltage profiles.
