Resumen
Actuality at present, there is so much interest for making new biopolymers dosed with natural fibers and resulting to get a biomaterial with good mechanical and chemical properties, with the main of replacing it with more degradable materials for the environment. Within the elements of the natural fibers is the cellulose, and in this work has been made the study of modification with the appropriate parameters to carry out said modification. This acetylation reaction consisted of replacing the OH-groups of the cellulose by the carboxyl group -COOH and thus obtaining the cellulose acetate or cellulose modified. The cellulose was extracted from the banana fiber considering the following parameters for acetylation, such as: analysis moisture, hot water solubility and 1% NaOH, water retention capacity (CWR), water absorption capacity (CWA), water adsorption capacity (CDA). For the identification of the structure, it was used the infrared spectrophotometry (IR) where on this grafic shows a peak within a band of 1715 cm1, which demonstrates ghat this procedure has been suitable for the homogeneous acetylation.
