Resumen
The Internet is a learning space that encourages new educational practices in which the use of media be-comes a form of literacy. Learners in the 21st century have grown up with the Internet, new media and games which have revolutionized the way they inter-act and learn. Recognizing serious games, simulation and gamification as the main trends applied in the field of education, this article develops its theoretical involvement in media literacy, showing how digital mediatization is including games in its teaching-learn-ing ecosystem. Through a meta-analysis based on the systematic review of scientific literature, it is con-cluded that the incorporation of playful experiences in media literacy is generated mainly in formal edu-cation where it is possible to promote collaborative activities which have impact on the creative develop-ment of students.
