From Rice Husk to Graphene: Exploring the Effect of Calcination and Leaching

Resumen

This study aims to assess the impact of leaching with HCl and calcination at varying temperatures (300–600 ℃) on the production of graphene from rice husks. The samples underwent calcination at different temperatures, were mixed with KOH, and synthesized at 850 ℃ for two hours. SEM-EDS, FTIR, TGA, XRD, and Raman were used for characterization. The resulting synthesized products had carbon content higher than 96% and morphology similar to corrugated paper with a multilayered structure. The temperature range of 450–600 ℃ was found to be the most favorable for successful synthesis. The use of XRD and Raman spectroscopies confirmed the synthesis of graphene. These findings provide valuable insights for optimizing graphene production, paving the way for a sustainable and potentially profitable approach.
